150th Anniversary Voyage

of the

Holland America Line

April 6-19, 2023

Wander, Eat and Tell and The Fizzy Coupe have joined forces to provide five delightful on-board presentations, alternating between high-spirited beverage history and a rich context of foods and flavors, to share the little-known, lively story of the Dutch influence on what we eat and drink.

We spent 13 days at sea traveling the northern Atlantic to Rotterdam, and celebrated 150 years of the Holland America Line.

The Spirited Life: Food, Drink, & A Soundtrack to Life in America from Colonial Times to Present

Summer 2023

Socializing, storytelling, great discussions – they all improve when enjoyed over delicious food and drink, with a soundtrack to match. Join us this summer for a convivial journey through American history as experienced in taverns, pubs, inns, clubs, restaurants, and coffee houses. We’ll discuss what people from varying social circles were drinking, eating, and listening to over four eras from colonial times to today.

 

We’ll focus on Northeastern America, although some tales will take us farther afield. Each class will examine a new era in history and will include recommended reading, a playlist to set the mood, and a few recipe recommendations for both food and drink to fuel further discussion.
