Let’s be real: the best part of Halloween is sneaking pieces of candy out of the bowl all night (and for the next week…). And, as an adult, enjoying a drink with said candy. Why not combine them?! Honestly, after the past 19 months, spiked desserts sound like maybe the best thing ever.
So today, we hope you’re feeling crafty, ‘cause these grown-up desserts are just as fun to make as they are to eat. Plus, you get to smash stuff, so bonus points for stress relief.
We’re making boozy pudding and serving it up two ways: as Dirt and choccy/PB cups. Yum! Snag some of those little Oreo packs and Reese’s cups out of the stash you’re saving for the trick-or-treaters and get to work!
First, let’s make the boozy pudding:
Ingredients:
1 box of instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz.)
1 1/4 cups milk
1/4 cup vodka (you can sub in bourbon here if you prefer a more pronounced boozy flavor)
4 oz. Cool Whip (1/2 the container)
Add pudding mix and milk to a bowl and whisk until smooth. Add vodka to the mixture and whisk again until well-incorporated. Fold in the Cool Whip until smooth (if you need help with folding, David and Moira Rose can help with that).
Next, grab the mix-ins:
Oreos, crushed
Cool Whip
Gummy worms
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, crushed or chopped into small pieces (you can also use crushed Reese’s pieces if you prefer!)
Creamy peanut butter
Let’s assemble these spooky treats!
For the Dirt:
Line the bottom of a cup with a layer of crushed Oreos. Add a layer of pudding, then a layer of Cool Whip. Repeat, layering ingredients, until you reach the top. (Or don’t! This is your masterpiece — assemble how you see fit!) Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to set. Before serving, top with a fluffy layer of Cool Whip, sprinkle crushed Oreos, and add some gummy worms. Eat & enjoy!
For the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups:
Alternate pudding and crushed Reese’s in a cup until filled. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to set. Before serving, heat a few tablespoons of peanut butter in the microwave until melted (about 15 seconds). Top the cup with a layer of fluffy Cool Whip, add some chopped Reese’s, and drizzle the melted peanut butter over the top. Eat & enjoy!
Don’t forget to keep these far away from any little ones! Cheers to a very spooky 10 remaining days of October, and happy early Halloween!
