1. What are the ingredients in a Negroni?

C. Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth

These three ingredients, in equal parts, comprise the classic Negroni.

2. Who is the Negroni named after?

A. Count Camillo Negroni

Camillo Negroni was a Italian count who asked, in a bar in Florence in

1919, that the soda water in his Americano cocktail be substituted with

gin to make it stronger. And thus, the Negroni -- and an eventual

worldwide obsession -- was born.

3. The "World's Largest Negroni" was assembled at the Tales of the Cocktail

event in 2011. How big was it?

B. 30 gallons

That's about 900 Negronis!

4. What is Negroni Week?

D. Week to celebrate the Negroni cocktail and raise money for

charities

Negroni Week was launched in 2013 as a partnership between Imbibe

Magazine and Campari as a way to fundraise for charities worldwide.

The first year, 120 bars participated, and it is now up to 12,000 venues

globally! Over $3 million has been raised to date, just from the

proceeds of Negroni cocktails sold during each week annually.

5. What did Orson Welles say about the Negroni?

C. “The bitters are excellent for your liver, the gin is bad for you.

They balance each other.”

Orson Welles tried the Negroni cocktail while in Italy in 1947. (The other

quotes are, kind of, from (A) The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; (B)

Arrested Development; and (D) The X-Files....and now you know our

pandemic TV viewing habits.)
