Does anyone else remember that George of the Jungle movie from 1997? There's one scene where Brendan Frasier eats ground coffee and goes totally bonkers. And it's hilarious. I still clearly remember that scene to this day and it still makes me laugh out loud just thinking about it. George and I basically share the same reaction to caffeine, so I'm purely a drink-it-before-noon-or-I'll-be-buzzing-at-midnight kind of coffee drinker.

However, coffee cocktails -- now that's a horse of a different color! Since there's typically less of the actual bean juice in these babies, I can sip and enjoy them later in the day, at least until about 6:00 PM...!

Coffee cocktails have been a thing for awhile now, but it seems like they're extra hot this summer. They're popping up all over, and fancy coffee shops are even making non-alcoholic coffee cocktails. Here are a few recipes that are easy to make at home and will help you get your low-key buzz on...maybe even past 6:00 in the evening!

Mind Eraser

This gem arose from the dark cocktail years of the 1980s, but still holds up as a tasty and easy cocktail to enjoy today!

2 oz. coffee liqueur

2 oz. vodka

Club soda, to top

Add coffee liqueur and vodka to a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with club soda. Sip and enjoy!

A tasty variation on the espresso martini!

1 1/2 oz. Irish whiskey

2 oz. espresso

1/2 oz. rich syrup (2:1 sugar to water)

1 oz. heavy cream

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice until well-chilled. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with coffee beans. Sip & enjoy!

Boozy Coffee Tonic

Bubbles and bean! Yum!

2 oz. coffee liqueur

6 oz. tonic water

Optional: simple syrup, to taste

Add all ingredients into a tall glass filled with ice and stir gently. You can easily make this non-alcoholic by swapping the coffee liqueur for espresso. Sip & enjoy!
